Andrew Gale and Yorkshire’s hierarchy have been busy looking at player recruitment for the county ahead of 2020, with the coach admitting: “Things are going well.”

Gale is targeting at least one domestic batsman, potentially two, and an overseas spinner for Specsavers County Championship cricket.

The former captain has also not hidden his desire to bring West Indies star Nicholas Pooran back to the club for next summer’s Vitality Blast campaign, which takes place immediately before the new Hundred competition.

Gale said: “It’s been a really busy time trying to recruit players and trying to get good overseas players, finding out their availability and when their schedule can fit in with us.

“We’re confident that over the next two to three weeks we might be able to announce something.”
