Yorkshire powerfully amassed 226-8 against Birmingham Bears at Emerald Headingley on the way to securing their fourth Vitality Blast win in six matches, by 31 runs on DLS.
England Lions opener Tom Kohler-Cadmore smashed 73 off 30 balls, while Kane Williamson hit 49 off 30 as the Vikings posted their fourth highest ever Blast total.
The Bears’ target was revised to 208 following a 40-minute rain delay three balls into their chase, but they stuttered after a fast start and finished on 176-4.
Adil Rashid finished with 1-19 from three overs and received a polite reception following his controversial England Test call.
The Vikings face Derbyshire at Chesterfield tomorrow SATURDAY (2.30pm).
Kohler-Cadmore missed last week’s Roses defeat with Test captain Joe Root available, but he made the ideal return in underpinning the Vikings mammoth total before rain arrived just three balls into their defence.
Kohler-Cadmore starred as the hosts, who elected to bat, blazed away to 92-1 after six overs, the highest power play score anywhere in this season’s Blast.
He overshadowed Adam Lyth’s entertaining 40 off 16 balls with five fours and six sixes – three of them off Boyd Rankin in the sixth over.
England bowler Chris Woakes removed Lyth and later Gary Ballance, but he returned figures of 2-54 from four overs as he returns to fitness following quad and knee injuries.
Lyth shared 63 for the first wicket with Kohler-Cadmore, who was then joined in stands of 29 and 43 for the second and third wickets by David Willey and New Zealand captain Williamson.
Kohler-Cadmore reached 50 off 20 balls as the Vikings reached halfway at 134-2 on the same true surface used for the women’s Roses match earlier in the day.
He was bowled trying to smash the pacy Olly Stone across the line in the eleventh over (135-3) before Williamson and Gary Ballance maintained the momentum as the Vikings reached 200 for the second time in this season’s Blast, added to four times last year.
They shared 53 in 5.1 overs before Woakes had Ballance caught at deep square for 35. The England man had earlier forced Lyth into a miscue high to short third-man.
Williamson followed to former international team-mate Grant Elliott in the 18th over as the Bears conceded 200 plus for the fourth match running.
Rashid holed out for a golden duck to Rankin with the penultimate ball of the innings.
Willey then bowled three dots to dashing Birmingham opener Ed Pollock at the start of their pursuit, but the rain swept across Headingley and forced the players off.
When play resumed, Pollock hit two fours and two sixes in 12 balls, only to miscue an uppercut at Willey behind to Jonny Tattersall as the score fell to 29-1 in the third.
The Bears maintained their healthy start to reach 51-1 after 5.2 overs of power play, but Rashid struck with his fourth ball in the seventh to trap Sam Hain lbw.
With that wicket, the rate escalated, and Liam Plunkett also impressed, getting Ian Bell (42) miscuing to mid-on – 99-3 in the 12th over. Plunkett finished with 2-31 from four, including getting Adam Hose caught at long-on for 43 late on.
