An exciting opportunity has arisen for a seasonal role working as a part-time Women and Girl’s cricket activator during the 2018 summer.

The successful candidate will have some experience in sports development and a sound knowledge of cricket in Yorkshire. They will have excellent organisational, communication and public relations skills. Helping to promote Yorkshire Cricket’s Women and girl’s offers and the Yorkshire Diamonds’ involvement in the national Kia Super League (KSL).

The role will be based at Emerald Headingley but will involve work across the county.

Job Description – Yorkshire Diamonds Cricket Activator
To work under the umbrella of Yorkshire Cricket in the planning and delivery of projects focusing on improving the engagement of girls across Yorkshire whilst continually promoting the Yorkshire Diamonds’ involvement in the KSL.

Reporting to: Yorkshire Diamonds General Manager
Staff reporting: Volunteers
Based: Emerald Headingley Cricket Ground
Contract: Seasonal – Part Time

Role Purpose
– To support the increase in the number of girls engaging with All Stars Cricket.
– To support the delivery of modified formats for girls aged 9-12
– To support the numbers of Women playing soft ball cricket
– To support the development of the female workforce in cricket, coaches, officials and volunteers
– To raise awareness of the Yorkshire Diamonds in the KSL
– To achieve sustainable growth in the girl’s participation sector

Key Responsibilities
– Delivery of Yorkshire Diamonds’ community roadshows and events at locations around the county
– Manage match day activations at Yorkshire Diamonds’ home matches
– Support the delivery a beach cricket tournament during the Scarborough Cricket Festival
– Work with key partners across all Women and Girl’s programme delivery
– Plan the delivery of a Winter Indoor Soft ball league
– Demonstrate impact and record data where possible to align to project KPI’s

General
– Create a calendar of diverse and inclusive events during the season
– Promotion of events throughout the season to promote participation opportunities and raise awareness of Yorkshire Diamonds’ matches
– Sign up teams, club and individuals to participate in programme of activity
– Plan, promote and deliver events and initiatives to support Yorkshire Cricket’s girls offer
– Work with Yorkshire Diamonds’ management and coaching team to co-ordinate player appearances
– Work with key partners including Yorkshire CCC, Yorkshire Cricket Foundation and Sports Learning Zone
– Administrate programmes and create a monitoring and evaluation framework to monitor and report on engagement throughout the summer
– Sign post to local cricket clubs to create a sustainable exit plan when the project ends

Communications
– Promote events and produce content for social media and press releases for the YCCC, YCB and YCF website
– Contribute to the production of the Annual Review and newsletter, including written copy
– Collate case studies, photographs and information from projects/events
– Work with the Yorkshire Cricket media and marketing team to produce relevant up to date information on Yorkshire Cricket’s girl’s offer

Person Specification
In support of your application, the successful candidate will possess the following:-
– Excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills
– Available to work from May to the end of August
– Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
– Good understanding of social media and appropriate content
– Computer literate (competent with Word, Excel and Social Media Platforms)
– Strong interest in the development of women and girl’s cricket
– Ability to demonstrate initiative and work well under pressure
– An innovative thinker with strong attention to detail
– Have a full, clean driving licence
