Yorkshire’s Under 18s girls were beaten by Hampshire in yesterday’s 50-over County Cup final at Attenborough Cricket Club in Nottinghamshire.
The White Rose Academy side lost by eight wickets having been bowled out for 153 batting first.
Inserted, opener Megan Sugden contributed 26 before falling as the county slipped to 69-7, only for Lucy Randle-Bissell’s 36 off 38 balls from number nine to lead a recovery.
Captain Alice Acklam also contributed 17.
Emily Wilson and Talitha Stanley impressed with three wickets apiece for Hampshire, who then made light work of the chase.
Opener Freya Watkinson top-scored with 49, backed up by Darcey Clarke’s unbeaten 39 and captain Georgia Toosey’s 41 not out off 26 balls.
Clarke and Toosey shared an unbroken third-wicket 89 from 67-2 in the 11th over following a run out and a Libby Fellows wicket.
Hampshire completed victory inside 22 overs of the reply.
It was a disappointing way for Yorkshire to end what was a highly impressive campaign. Through the group stage and the knockouts of this competition, they won 10 of 12 matches, losing only twice.
