Welcome to The Yorkshire Cricket Foundation’s annual Grey Fox Trophy Competition, a cricketing celebration that transcends age and taps into the timeless love for the sport. Administered and delivered with passion by the Yorkshire Cricket Foundation, this competition embodies the essence of cricket in Yorkshire.

This year’s edition of the Grey Fox Trophy, which spans from April to September, featured an impressive lineup of 15 teams, divided into three pools. The heart of the competition was the round-robin group stage, where each team battled fiercely for supremacy. What sets this year apart is the thrilling twist: the three group winners, along with the GFT Finals 2023 – Match Reports overall best runner-up based on points and NRR (Net Run Rate), earned their place in the spotlight, competing for the coveted Trophy and the equally prestigious Plate.

The journey to glory took an exciting turn as Beverley Town CC graciously hosted the semi-finals on Sunday, August 27th. Here, teams went head-to-head, leaving nothing to chance, in their pursuit of cricketing silverware. The atmosphere was charged with anticipation as they aimed to etch their names in the annals of the Grey Fox Trophy’s storied history.

In the end, it was Bowling Old Lane and Hall Park Templars who emerged as the finalists, set to battle for the revered Grey Fox Trophy. Meanwhile, the runners-up would contend for the honour of becoming Grey Fox Plate champions, all on the grand stage of the finals day at Scarborough CC, scheduled for Sunday, September 10th 2023.

One of the distinguishing features of the Grey Fox Trophy is its inclusivity. With age-related run handicaps and regulations dictating that batters retire after accumulating 30 runs or facing a certain number of deliveries from a single bowler, this competition opens its doors wide. It’s not just for cricketers who still grace the pitch regularly; it’s an opportunity for those who’ve retired or can’t commit to formal cricket, allowing them to relish the game in a spirited and welcoming environment.

So, whether you’re a seasoned player with decades of cricketing wisdom or someone dusting off their whites to savour the joy of the game once more, the Grey Fox Trophy is your stage.

Join us in celebrating the enduring spirit of cricket, and let the camaraderie and competition unfold in this year’s thrilling edition.
