Curtis Sugden hit a superb captain’s century as Yorkshire’s D40 Pursuit team beat Warwickshire by 89 runs at Higham today to sit top of the North and Midlands group after four games.
Wicketkeeper-opener Sugden excelled with 100 off 75 balls, the feature innings in 228 all out inside 40 overs for the county’s second team.
Sugden hit 15 fours and two sixes and was supported by a middle order 59 from Graham Whitfield.
In defence, all six bowlers used by Sugden struck at least once in the Bears’ 139 all out, including 3-4 from 2.2 overs for Lewis Daniels and two wickets for Jasper Spooner.
With two fixtures remaining, Yorkshire, who have won twice, sit top of their group by 10 points from Derbyshire. The latter have a game in hand, with 30 available for a victory.
Yorkshire’s last game, on July 27, is away at Derbyshire.
