In signing Billy Stanlake as their specialist overseas player for this summer’s Vitality Blast, Yorkshire have got an Australian seamer on the up. Literally!

At 6ft 8inches tall, Stanlake has turned heads for reasons other than cricket. But, following a home summer to remember, the 23-year-old Queenslander is fast becoming a household name thanks to his fearsome fast bowling.

He debuted for Australia in one-day and Twenty20 cricket early last year, and he has only just qualified for an overseas deal in county cricket through his international commitments.

Wednesday’s T20 clash with New Zealand in Auckland was his seventh appearance across both forms, while he was handed a central contract by Cricket Australia last April.
