Head coach Rich Pyrah hailed a “professional performance” from Yorkshire as they booked their place in the second round of the Vitality T20 County Cup.

The hosts delivered a thumping 122-run win over Derbyshire in Harrogate today as Lauren Winfield-Hill’s 88 and Ami Campbell’s rapid 41 helped post a commanding target of 206.

Grace Hall and Claudie Cooper each claimed three wickets as Derbyshire were dismissed for 83 inside 16 overs, with Yorkshire setting up a second-round clash with Staffordshire next Saturday.

It was a second big win over Derbyshire in three days after Saturday’s 50-over triumph – and Pyrah was thrilled with what he saw.

“Good professional performance. We knew what we were going to be up against today because obviously we played them on Saturday,” he said.

“Coming here to Harrogate, where we played a friendly game on Thursday, we knew it was a slow pitch which was going to be a different challenge. They haven’t got much pace on the ball and their spinners bowl it quite slow.

“We managed that really well in the first half, the batters gave themselves a chance to get in and then we expressed ourselves. Getting 205 in a T20 game is a great position to be in.

“You know here it is so quick scoring that you can catch up and I thought we timed that innings beautifully today.”

Campbell, fresh from smashing an unbeaten 165 against Derbyshire on Saturday, delivered the firepower at the back end of the innings with her 41 coming from just 18 balls.

“Ami is striking the ball as well as I have ever seen her strike the ball,” Pyrah added.

“She hits it so hard. It was the perfect innings for us, we kept wickets in hand with Ami coming in at that back end where she can take the game away from the opposition. It was very pleasing.”
