REPORT

Well, if we were going to give ‘em one match, it may as well have been on Australia Day!

England’s chances of a 5-0 series whitewash went up in smoke as a clatter of early wickets saw them slip to 8-5 during today’s fourth ODI at the Adelaide Oval, although they fought back superbly and only lost by three wickets.

Jason Roy, Jonny Bairstow, Joe Root and Jos Buttler all posted ducks to give their side a mountain to climb in the South Australia sunshine.

England’s problems were brought about by a couple of loose shots, although the ball which bowled Alex Hales through the gate was a beauty from Pat Cummins.
