Top of the table Woodhouse Grange won the toss and put the hosts into bat. The visitors were rewarded quickly as they took early wickets with Yorkshire Academy soon struggling at 30 for 4 with the next wicket falling with the total on 58. Dominic Leech joined captain James Wharton and they put on a 58 run partnership for the 6th wicket before Leech went for 21. Josh Sullivan joined Wharton and the pair put on 34 to take the Academy to 150 for 7 with Sullivan out for 29. The last three wickets fell before the end of the allocated overs and Wharton top scoring with an excellent 85 from 123 balls with 6 fours. Yorkshire Academy were 193 all out from 49.5 overs which was a respectable final total from 58 for 5 in the 19th over.

The damage was done by bowlers Tom Neal 3 for 40 from 12 overs, James Finch 3 for 41 from 13 overs and Steve Burdett 2 for 56.

In their reply Woodhouse Grange were 33 for 0 from 6.5 overs when rain prevented any further play.

Out of ten league matches so far this season, five have been abandoned.

The Academy remain third in the table with Woodhouse Grange top and Dunnington second.

Next weekend Yorkshire Academy visit Castleford in a league match on Saturday and on Sunday it is the T20 Finals Day at Scarborough where they play Dunnington in the second Semi Final.

Yorkshire 2ndXI vs Durham - Second XI Championship

Winning the toss Durham asked Yorkshire to bat first. Tom Fraine and Yash Vagadia opened the innings but it was skipper, Vagadia who departed first being bowled by Glover for 1, 12-1. Noah Kelly joined Fraine, both “fresh” from their under 18s cup win yesterday over Middlesex and they took the total to 47 before Fraine was caught in the gully for 32 from 44 balls with 6 fours.
