Yorkshire Academy hosted Harrogate on Saturday in the final Yorkshire League North fixture of the season.
Yorkshire Academy won the toss and elected to bat on a fine day but had a distinct autumnal feel about it.
The weather was different to the last day of the season for the previous two years when the Academy matches had been abandoned without a ball bowled.
The openers James Wharton and Matthew Revis put together an excellent stand of 101 from 130 balls before Revis was dismissed for 51 from 62 balls with 6 fours. Finlay Bean joined Wharton and they put on a second wicket partnership of 61 from 85 balls before Wharton was out for 67 from 106 balls with 5 fours and a six. George Hill joined Bean and they put 49 before Hill fell with the total on 211 for 3 after 43 overs. Bean was the 4th batsman out for 70 from 77 balls with 9 fours at 219. Wicket keeper Harry Duke also contributed 26 as the Academy innings finished on 269 for 7 from 50 overs, which was their 2nd highest total of the season.
The wickets were shared by Tom Geeson Brown 3 for 64, Ishan Abeysekara 2 for 82 and Adbi Hasan Ahmed 1 for 43.
Harrogate lost their first wicket at 12 and the other opener at 49. Josh Atkinson and Harry Stothard put together a little recovery with a 3rd wicket stand of 58 which took the score to 102 for 3 before Stothard went for 39 from only 34 balls with 5 fours and a six. Atkinson was dismissed for 46 from 95 balls with 4 fours and a six with the total on 123 for 4 from 33.4 overs. From 147 for 5 in the 41st over the Harrogate batsmen had no answer to the Sullivan brothers Harry and Josh as they were bowled out for 192 with 3 overs left.
The damage was done by Harry Sullivan 11 overs 2 maidens 4 for 43 and Josh Sullivan 4 overs 3 for 16. Ed Booth, George Hill and Harry Harding also took a wicket each.
The outright victory means that Yorkshire Academy finish 7th in the final Yorkshire League table however the two sides above them (Dunnington and Castleford) were only two points ahead. The weather has been a major factor with 7 matches abandoned.
The Champions were Sheriff Hutton Bridge and Woodhouse Grange were runners up.
