Newly promoted Beverley Town visited Weetwood on Monday and the Academy were put into bat after losing the toss.

Openers Finlay Bean and James Wharton put on 33 before Bean was dismissed. Matthew Revis joined Wharton and they took the total to 70 before Wharton was out for 28. George Hill and Revis then put on an excellent third wicket stand of 124 from 106 balls before Revis was the third wicket to fall for 78 (75 balls and 9 fours). Arjun Ramkumar joined Hill and took the score to 244 before Hill went for 94 from only 72 balls with 4 fours and 3 sixes. Dominic Leech and Ramkumar put on a quick-fire 58 stand from 41 balls as the Academy finished their 50 overs on an excellent 302 for 4.

In the reply the Beverley openers put on 41 before the first wicket went. Olly Grantham joined Harry Gamble and the pair took the score to 110 before Gamble was out for 60 from 98 balls with 7 fours. Grantham went for 25 as the wickets began to fall at regular intervals. Only Anthony Spence with 47 from only 25 balls which included 7 fours and 2 sixes gave any resistance as Beverley were dismissed for 209 from 45.1 overs to give Yorkshire Academy their first outright victory of the season.

The damage was done by the Sullivan brothers with Josh claiming a five wicket haul with 5 for 73 from 10.1 overs and Harry 3 for 41 from 11 overs. Harrison Quarmby and George Hill took a wicket.

Points: Yorkshire Academy 10 Beverley Town 0.

Yorkshire Academy are at home again on Saturday against Scarborough.
