Sheriff Hutton Bridge hosted the Group Stage for Yorkshire Academy with third team Scarborough joining for three matches with the winners qualifying for the Finals Day at Scarborough.
Yorkshire Academy were put into bat by the host team in the first match of the day. They were struggling at 41 for 3 in the 7 over before Yash Vagadia and Dominic Leech shared a fourth wicket stand of 46. Vagadia was dismissed for an excellent 59 for 59 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes. The Academy finished on 128 for 7 from the 20 overs.
Dulash Udayanga was the best bowler for Sheriff Hutton Bridge with 3 for 22 from his 4 overs.
In the reply Sheriff Hutton Bridge were soon struggling with both openers back in the Pavilion with only eight runs on the scoreboard. They continued to lose wickets at regular intervals and were 121 all out with one ball remaining. Freddie Collins 24 and Tommy Hudson 23 were the main contributions.
Dominic Leech 4 for 17 and Josh Sullivan 2 for 20 did the damage with Ed Booth, Archie Greaves, Harry Sullivan and Sam Wisniewski taking one wicket each.
Yorkshire Academy won by 7 runs.
YORKSHIRE ACADEMY v SCARBOROUGH
Yorkshire League North T20 Group Stage Match 2.
After winning the toss, Yorkshire decided to bat first. There was a 37-run partnership for the third wicket between Arjun Ramkumar and Yash Yagadia and then Dominic Leech joined Yagadia and they put on 33 for the fourth wicket. Top scorers were Matthew Revis 22, Arjun Ramkumar 30, Dominic Leech 26 and Archie Greaves 20 not out in the total of 137 for 8 from 20 overs.
Sam Drury took 2 for 11 for Scarborough.
In their reply Scarborough got off to a bad start losing both openers in the first 2 overs and they were struggling more at 15 for 4. A recovery took place as Jonathan Read and Bradley Milburn put on a stand of 66 for the 5th wicket before Milburn went for 27. Read was run out for 50 as Scarborough were 93 for 6 in the 16th over. They finished on 111 for 9 from 20 overs.
The wicket takers were Josh Sullivan 3 for 23, Dominic Leech 2 for 10, Ed Booth 2 for 18 and Sam Wisniewski 1 for 20.
Yorkshire Academy won by 26 runs.
As a result of the two victories in the Group Stage Yorkshire Academy progress to the finals day.
