The Academy made a trip to Stamford Bridge on Saturday and after winning the toss the home side asked the Academy to bat.

The decision soon paid off as the Academy openers were dismissed in the space of four balls with the total only on 16.

George Hill and Tom Loten led a recovery with a partnership of 67 for the third wicket from 92 balls before Hill was dismissed for 35. Loten was joined by Bilal Anjam and they put on an excellent fourth wicket stand of 149 from 171 balls before Anjam was out for 53 from 89 balls with 4 fours. Loten finished on 127 not out from 133 balls with 11 fours and 2 sixes which was his first century of the season. The Academy finished on 251 for 6 from their 50 overs.

Dominic Rhodes 3 for 44, Chris Grey 1 for 23, Ryan Gibson 1 for 35 and Matt Beckett 1 for 56 were the wicket takers for Stamford Bridge.

The Stamford Bridge openers put on 61 before Pradeeptha Gunaratne was out for 46. Ryan Gibson and Liam McKendry put on 138 for the second wicket from 134 balls before McKendry was out for 61 from 69 balls with 6 fours and 2 sixes. The third wicket fell at 217 and Gibson was the fourth wicket to fall at 249 with the home side just short of the target. Gibson contributed 110 from 106 balls with 13 fours and 2 sixes. Stamford Bridge reached the target as they finished on 252 for 4 in the 45th over.

The Academy wicket takers were Matthew Taylor 2 for 54, George Hill 1 for 21 and Josh Sullivan 1 for 62.

The Academy remain fifth in the table and host second in the table Woodhouse Grange on Saturday at Weetwood.
