The Academy visited the lovely countryside setting of Sheriff Hutton Bridge for their last away fixture of the season.
After winning the toss the home side elected to bat on a warm afternoon.
Sheriff Hutton Bridge lost their opening wicket of captain Adam Fisher in the 4th over with the total on 10. Overseas player Dulash Udayanga was the next man to be dismissed as the score reached 34. Opener Louis Foxton and Tommy Hudson had a partnership of 42 for the 3rd wicket before Foxton fell for 34. Robert Pinder joined Hudson and they put on 22 which took the score to 100 for 4 in the 27th over. Pinder was the 5th wicket to fall at 112. Two partnerships followed with 31 for the 6th wicket and then 33 for the 7th which took the hosts to 178 for 7 in the 41st over. The final three wickets fell quickly as Sheriff Hutton Bridge were 186 all out from 43.4 overs. Russell Robinson contributed a quick fire innings of 31 from only 19 balls which included 4 fours and 2 sixes.
The Academy wicket takers were Eddie Barnes 1 for 19, Matthew Taylor 1 for 25, Tom Loten 3 for 17, Joshua Sullivan 2 for 37, Sam Wisniewski 1 for 39 and Harry Harding 2 for 30.
The Academy got off to a bad start losing the first wicket with the scoreboard total showing only 5 in the 3rd over. George Hill joined James Wharton and they took the score to 50 before Wharton was dismissed. Tom Loten and Hill took the total to 84 before Hill fell for an excellent 58 from 63 balls with 6 fours and a six. Loten was out with the total on 99 in the 26th over. Two wickets fell in the 29th over with the scoreboard showing “nelson” 111. The next two wickets fell with the scoreboard showing 138 for 8 with the Academy still 49 short of victory. Unfortunately the final two wickets fell before reaching the target as the Academy were 165 all out from 45.2 overs.
Freddie Collins 1 for 35, Karl Carver 4 for 44 from 13 overs, Russell Robinson 2 for 36 and Dulash Udayanga 1 for 22 were the wicket takers for Sheriff Hutton Bridge.
The Academy are at home to Clifton Alliance on Saturday in the final match of the Yorkshire League North season on Saturday.
