Scorecard

After last week’s fixture at Castleford was cancelled due to the weather the young Academy team visited Dunnington on Saturday.

Yorkshire Academy lost the toss and were put into bat with the weather cool and some rain clouds threatening. The Academy were soon reduced to 34 for 3. Two partnerships of 24 for the fourth wicket and the fifth wicket pair put on another 30 took the score to 85 for 5 and the next wicket fell next ball. Captain Will Luxton and Ben Cliff shared a partnership of 28 for the ninth before Luxton was out for an excellent 71 from 132 balls with 6 fours. Cliff was 28 not out from 38 balls with 2 fours and a six as the Academy were 147 all out from 47.2 overs. The damage was done by George Drury 5 for 27 from 10.2 overs and Dave Brent 3 for 24 from 13 overs.

Both the Dunnington openers were dismissed early as the home side were 10 for 2. A 37 run partnership for the third wicket before a run out and a fourth wicket stand of 32 took the total to 79 for 4 as George Drury was out for 39. The sixth wicket fell at 99 with 49 still required. Jack Bolam with 35 not out and wicket keeper Daniel Barrett 19 not out held their nerve with an unbroken seventh wicket partnership of 51 as the home side finished on 150 for 6 with 16 balls remaining. Opening bowlers Ben Cliff 4 for 56 from 11.2 overs and Charlie Bourne 1 for 30 from his allocated 13 overs with 3 maidens were the wicket takers.

Points: Dunnington 10 Yorkshire Academy 2.

The Academy are at home to Driffield Town next Saturday.
