Yorkshire suffered from a costly batting collapse as they missed the chance to win their second successive Royal London one-day Cup tie, with Warwickshire clinching the two points at Emerald Headingley.
Having elected to bat, the Vikings flew to 80-0 in the 13th over thanks to Tom Kohler-Cadmore (39) and Adam Lyth (38). But they slipped to 149-6 on the way to 247-9, with Bears off-spinner Jeetan Patel impressing for 4-33 from 10 overs.
Indian overseas batsman Che Pujara top-scored for Yorkshire with 73 off 96 balls, including seven fours. Unfortunately, nobody else made it to 40 despite good batting conditions.
Warwickshire, who have also now won one and lost one at the start of the North Group campaign, then made the chase look routine as they got home by five wickets with 4.2 overs to spare.
England hopeful Sam Hain top-scored with 102 unbeaten off 110 balls. He had hit 108 in Thursday’s defeat to Derbyshire.
Yorkshire named an unchanged team from Friday’s win at Durham and elected to bat.
Kohler-Cadmore and Lyth shared 80, as they did at the Riverside, and looked in tittle trouble until the former sliced Aaron Thomason’s seamers to a deep gully.
That was the first of two wickets to fall in three balls as Patel trapped Lyth lbw at the start of the 14th.
The veteran New Zealander then had Jack Leaning and Adil Rashid caught behind and bowled Andrew Hodd, with his three wickets coming in as many overs as the score fell to 149 for six in the 30th.
Pujara and Tim Bresnan shared 55 for seventh wicket to take the score into the 200s before the latter edged Keith Barker’s left-arm seamers behind to Tim Ambrose as the score fell to 204-7 in the 43rd over.
Former England wicketkeeper Ambrose epitomised Warwickshire’s sharp fielding effort with five catches, while Patel ran captain Steve Patterson out with a direct hit from cover with the last ball of the innings.
Aggressive opener Ed Pollock then set the tone for the Bears response by hammering Bresnan down the ground for a six which thudded into the sight screen in the first over.
And although he only posted 26 before being bowled by Ben Coad, he helped them get ahead of the rate, allowing second-wicket pair Jonathan Trott and prolific Hain to calmly accrue and take advantage of anything loose.
They shared 87 inside 19 overs before Trott was run out coming back for a second to deep cover, with the dismissal affected by a combination of Bresnan and bowler James Wainman.
That left the score at 126-2 in the 25th over before left-arm seamer Wainman had Ian Bell caught at slip for five in his next over.
Unfortunately, however, Hain found another ally in ex-Somerset batsman Adam Hose, who settled quickly at the crease.
They brought up their 50 partnership inside 10 overs and took the score to 200-3 after 37 overs.
Hose was the dominant force in their alliance of 97 inside 14 overs, and finished with 44 before holing out off Ben Coad with 17 needed.
Wainman struck again to get Ambrose caught behind, but Hain reached his ton off 107 balls with 12 fours.
Yorkshire face Worcestershire at Headingley in their second of three home matches this week on Wednesday, another 11am start.
