Fast bowler Mat Pillans, who was unveiled as the latest Yorkshire signing on Thursday, will join the White Rose with immediate effect after a loan-deal was agreed with Surrey.

The right-arm seamer will be available for the Specsavers County Championship fixture starting on Wednesday, offering cover for a number of injuries in the Yorkshire camp.

Club captain Steve Patterson (fractured finger) and opening bowler Ben Coad (side-strain) remain sidelined, but it is hoped they will both be back in contention before the end of the season. Jack Brooks and Tim Bresnan are also a doubt for Wednesday’s game after a heavy workload in the defeat to Worcestershire at North Marine Road.
