Ben Mike claimed a career best 4-40 from 7.5 overs as Surrey, who recovered from 0-2, were bowled out for 241 in today’s Metro Bank One-Day Cup clash at York’s Clifton Park.
In Minster City sunshine, Dom Leech struck twice in his first over after Shan Masood had elected to bowl, and Surrey later slipped to 124-6 in the 31st over thanks to two more wickets for fellow seamer Matthew Revis, including one with his first ball of the day.
But Ben Geddes pulled three sixes in a fine 90-ball 92, sharing stands of 45 for the sixth wicket with Josh Blake and 94 for the seventh with Conor McKerr, who added 32. Both men hit List A best scores.
Yorkshire were impressive with the ball.
They will clearly be frustrated at seeing the visitors advance from 79-5, but this is a target they will be extremely confident of chasing on a two-paced pitch.
While Leech, George Hill and Revis claimed two wickets apiece, Mike finished as the pick of the bowlers, bowling Geddes along the way late in the innings.
