Due to our opponents being stuck in traffic, the start was delayed by 30 minutes which gave us chance to tackle problems with trying to connect and use the new impressive scoreboard at York. Problems with our opponents not being on the system necessitated importing/exporting data and it is thanks to Kallum from York that these problems were overcome.
Winning the toss Yorkshire elected to bat and 35 had been added before Owen Smith was caught at fine leg for 13: Harry Duke was caught behind for 10, Fin Bean brilliantly caught at backward point for 14 and Jawad Akhtar caught behind for nought – in the 18th over we were 104-4.
During all this Yash Vagadia was looking assured and he reached a half century from 45 balls with 6 fours. When Joe Thompson was bowled for 2 we were 117-5, Ben Coad joined Vagadia and they had added 64 in 60 balls before Coad was bowled for 24 from 36 balls. Shortly before his dismissal Vagadia reached an excellent hundred made from 80 balls with 13 fours – he went onto make 129 from 101 balls with 16 fours and a six before being caught at mid-wicket.
Late runs from Matt Firbank and Brad Sylvester enabled us to reach 254 but 29 deliveries were unused.
Coad had Khan lbw for 14 and Sylvester had Kundu caught at point by Vagadia for 17 and Mumbai were 45-2. Tom Bradley had Parkar caught down the leg side by Duke for 13; 73-3. However, this proved to be our last success for some time. Mirza and Bhatt added 40 in 58 balls before the former retired not out due to sickness – he made 47 from 64 balls. Ankolekar replaced him and he and Bhatt added 84 in 76 balls before Ankolekar was bowled by Sylvester having made 43 from 36 with 2 fours and 2 sixes.
Murkar joined Bhatt and they achieved their target to record a 6 wicket victory – Bhatt finished unbeaten on 76 from 103 balls.
Next Second Eleven action is at Weetwood on Friday 10th July with a 50 over per side game against Durham.
