On another hot day and in front of a decent crowd, Durham won the toss and elected to bat. Subhaan Ali struck in his first over having Drissell caught at mid-off by Ben Coad and Isaac Bepey bowled McKinney to leave Durham 16-2 in the 4th over. Ackerman and Will Rhodes, however, added 106 in inly 66 balls before the latter was dismissed for 46 from 37 balls with 3 fours and 2 sixes.
Ackerman reached his half century from 30 balls and went onto make 67 from 40 balls with 5 fours and 3 sixes. Wickets were taken and Durham posted 158-8. There were 2 wickets for Charlie Richardson, 2 good catches on debut by Callum Armstrong and 3 more wickets for Bepey.
Armstrong, Duke and Vagadia were all dismissed inside the first 3 overs (13-3) but Finlay Bean and Jawad Akhtar added 65 in 49 balls before Bean was lbw for 37 from 30 balls with 3 fours and a six. Joe Thompson was bowled for nought and this brought Peter Greenfield to the wicket – he started slowly (5 from 11) but 3 huge sixes in an over took him to 28 from 20 balls when he was caught at the wicket. He and Akhtar had added 72 in only 41 balls to put Yorkshire on the brink of only their 2nd Group win of the season.
Victory was duly completed with an over to spare when Coad hit his first ball to the boundary. This left Akhtar unbeaten on 67 from 48 balls with 6 fours and 3 sixes.
Next action is the final Group game against todays opponents at Hartlepool on Tuesday 30th June.
