Tom Kohler-Cadmore led from the front with a superb unbeaten 94 to set Yorkshire on their way to a campaign-ending Vitality Blast win over Birmingham Bears at Edgbaston.
The Vikings stand-in captain underpinned 200-3 having been invited to bat on a pitch which turned.
He hit nine fours and two sixes in 63 balls, batting through the innings for the second time against the Bears in this summer’s Blast.
In reply, Birmingham reached 31-0 in the third over, but Tim Bresnan struck twice in three balls, and they were reeled in to 181-5, losing by 19 runs.
South African left-arm spinner Keshav Maharaj was excellent with 1-23 from four overs.
Kohler-Cadmore’s 102 partnership inside 12 overs with fellow opener Adam Lyth (42) was their third of a campaign which has seen the Vikings fail to qualify for the quarter-finals, with two further stands above 50.
It was the England Lions man’s fifth fifty and took him to a competition tally of 435 runs, the fourth best haul in White Rose history.
Despite the significant frustration of missing out on the quarter-finals for a third year running, the Vikings have at least shown what they are capable of as a side.
They beat Northamptonshire at Emerald Headingley last night (THURSDAY) added to this win, which means they have jumped from bottom spot in the North Group to finish fifth with 13 points and four wins – one place outside the quarters.
Of the first eight overs of the Yorkshire innings, the hosts bowled eight overs of spin before David Willey and Harry Brook adding useful cameos of 25 and 23. There were 22 overs of spin in the match.
Kohler-Cadmore hit his two sixes off ex-Vikings left-arm seamer James Wainman, who conceded 39 off only two overs and was the most expensive Bear.
He reached his fifty off 35 balls in the 10th over (87-0) and was 90 not out heading into the last over as he went in search of only a second career T20 hundred and his first for Yorkshire.
Earlier this month, the ex-Worcester man batted through the innings for 76 against the Bears at Headingley, but blamed himself as the Vikings snatched a tie from the jaws of victory. So this would have no doubt been particularly sweet.
Dangerous left-hander Ed Pollock smashed four fours and a six in an 11-ball 22 to give Birmingham early hope.
But the ball after pulling Bresnan over the rope, he was caught behind before Will Fraine took a stunning diving catch at point to help get rid of Australian Chris Green (35-2 after three).
Mat Pillans then uprooted Matt Lamb’s middle stump towards the end of the sixth over as the Bears ended the power play at 56-3 and later reached halfway at 84-3.
Spinners Jack Shutt and Maharaj built the pressure, leaving Dom Sibley (37) and Sam Hain (64 not out off 46) with too much to do despite them getting set.
Lyth’s off-spin ousted Sibley lbw sweeping in the 12th over as the score slipped to 100-4, ending a 44-run stand, before Maharaj bowled Will Rhodes playing the same shot with the first ball of the 15th (127-5), which ended as a wicket maiden.
From there, with 70 needed off five, it was all but game over.
Hain reached 50 off 35 balls with 51 needed off three overs before Pillans successfully defended 33 off the last over.
