The White Rose ended day three at Clifton Park on 178-7 in their second innings, leading by 183.

It is set up to be an absolutely superb finish to the first county fixture in York since 1890.

Day 2

Opener Dom Sibley’s 67 had underpinned Warwickshire’s 139-1 from late morning to mid-evening, only for Patterson to reduce them to 148-4 in the space of six overs.

Sibley shared 101 for the second wicket with Rob Yates (49), but both were dismissed by the White Rose skipper, who had earlier in the day posted 60 with the bat. Warwickshire closed on 192 for five from 75 overs.

Day 1

Gary Ballance posted 54, David Willey 46 and Will Fraine 42 after the hosts were invited to bat following an uncontested toss, only for them to close on 208-8 from 66.4 overs.
