Good morning...
Good morning from Headingley, where we’ve had some overnight rain. An often used phrase in English cricket but an unusual one for this summer.
Even so, with the last of the covers being removed as we speak. we look like we’re all set for a start on time at 11am for day two against Nottinghamshire, which Yorkshire’s men will begin on 10-2 in reply to 228 all out.
Up the road at Weetwood, Yorkshire’s women are in Vitality County T20 Cup quarter-final action (2.30pm) against Warwickshire Bears. A place at Finals Day at Taunton on Monday is the prize for the winner, with Surrey waiting in the semi-finals.
Yorkshire are on a six-match winning streak in all competitions, including three in this competition. They beat Tier 1 Essex Eagles last time out last Saturday here at Headingley.
Yorkshire’s men are in desperate need of a good day today. They bowled well in large parts without luck yesterday as Notts got themselves into what looks like a healthy state. It would have been no surprise to see them bowled out for 150 or even less.
Jordan Thompson, who claimed three wickets, believes Yorkshire weren’t at their best either side of tea when Joe Clarke and Lyndon James were together in a sixth-wicket partnership of 71, advancing their cause from 121-5.
You can read his full view of the day via the embedded X post above, while the match report is also there.
The preview of Yorkshire’s women versus Warwickshire from Tier 1 is embedded below.
We will keep you updated from both venues throughout the day.
