Good morning...

It’s warm and sunny at the Ambassador Cruise Line Ground, Chelmsford, where Yorkshire’s men are in second-day Rothesay County Championship action against Essex. 11am start.

Back at home in God’s Own County, surely it will be the same. When is it not?!

Up at Costa Del Weetwood, Yorkshire’s women are facing Staffordshire in the second round of the Vitality County T20 Cup from 2.30pm against Staffordshire. The prize for the winner is a round three tie against Essex Eagles at home next Saturday.

We have embedded our preview for the Staffs game above this post, as we have the links to our match report and reaction piece from day one here at Chelmsford.

Yorkshire were mightily frustrated with their batting effort yesterday, falling from 108-1 to 216 all out. But, having restricted Essex to 27-3 at close, they ended the day with their tails up.

It will be fascinating to see how the pitch plays today. Essex didn’t use the heavy roller last night and will do this morning, which may well deaden it somewhat. It was slow all day yesterday and looked a featherbed before lunch. But, after tea, it was doing quite a bit, including signs of uneven bounce. The ball which George Hill bowled nightwatchman Jamie Porter with shot through low.

Two quick wickets this morning, 50-5 say, and Yorkshire will be in good order. Fingers crossed.

Yorkshire’s women are on a three-game winning streak having won two 50-over games added to their round one T20 tie against Derbyshire at Harrogate on Monday. Facing a Tier 3 side in Staffordshire, they will be overwhelming favourites to win today. But we all know the dynamic knockout sport brings.

You will be able to follow this page for live updates from both venues, and the streams will be available here as well.
