Good afternoon...
From Headingley. It’s a bright and breezy afternoon ahead of our return to Vitality Blast action following a fortnight’s break.
Yorkshire are in must win territory when they take the field at 6.30pm. With only two victories from the first eight games and being well off the pace in the race for the quarter-finals, the county can’t afford to leave things any longer. They have to make their move now.
Five wins from the last six games may be enough to reach the top four, but it may be that six wins from six is the equation required.
Yorkshire are second from bottom in the North Group, on 8 points – 12 behind fourth-placed Leicestershire. Worcestershire a place better off than tonight’s hosts on 12 points having won three from eight.
Worcestershire beat Yorkshire at New Road earlier in the campaign.
Despite their T20 troubles of late – the White Rose have lost their last three – they do head into this weekend’s fixtures against Worcestershire and Derbyshire at Chesterfield on Sunday with a spring in their step following the superb Championship win over Essex at York on Wednesday, by 10 wickets chasing 41.
Worcestershire were beaten by one wicket last time out in the Blast, by the Bears. Yorkshire were beaten by Durham at the Banks Homes Riverside on the same night.
