It’s bright and breezy now at Clifton Park.

We're up and running again

Play has resumed. Three more overs lost, and there’s a minimum of 68 overs remaining in the day.

Essex 52-6.

Rain returns

Oh no. Play was just about to start, and now it’s raining again. The players hurry back into the changing rooms.

An early lunch is just about to start.

Good news

The rain has stopped and play will begin at 11.25am.

Six overs lost, 90 overs to be bowled.

Play delayed

The rain continues to fall, though by no means as heavy as it was 10 minutes ago. The mopping up process has started on the outfield, while the cover remains in place over the cut strip.

Rain, rain go away

The rain is falling quite heavily now at Clifton Park, curtailing the warm-ups.

It looks like we will have a delayed start to day four.

Six leg-side strangles

Yorkshire’s lead performance analyst Harrison Allen has been crunching the numbers and says that the half dozen leg-side strangles in this match is the most in any County Championship fixture since 2019.

Good morning...

From York, where there has been some overnight rain.

It’s dry at present, but the covers are hovering. Fingers crossed we don’t need them.

What a day yesterday was as Yorkshire turned this game on its had thanks to brilliance with the bat from Matthew Revis and brilliance with bat and ball from Ben Coad.

Essex will resume on 33-3 in their second innings, 58 runs behind with Jordan Cox and nightwatchman Simon Harmer at the crease.

If Yorkshire win this, they will jump out of the relegation zone and leapfrog Essex in the process.

You can recap on yesterday’s action, which saw Revis make 150 and Coad 89 along with two wickets, via our match report and reaction piece. They’re available via the embedded X posts above.

Enjoy the day. Let’s hope it’s a good one.
