Live: Yorkshire Men v Durham, Rothesay CC, Day Three

It's day three of the final round Rothesay County Championship clash with Durham at Headingley. Yorkshire hold the advantage. Follow our blog for live updates to see if they can strengthen their grip today.

Play abandoned for the day

That’s it for the day here at Headingley.

It’s going to be all eyes on Southampton first thing tomorrow!

But Yorkshire are doing the job nicely for themselves, to be fair.

Close of play at Hampshire, but not yet here

Hampshire are 148-9 chasing 181 to beat Surrey.

We still await a possible resumption. In truth, it’s not likely. The light hasn’t altered.

Bad Light, Southampton

Hampshire are 148-9 chasing 181 to beat Surrey.

A Surrey win and Yorkshire are safe.

Hampshire 121-8, needing 60 more to win

If Surrey win in Southampton, Yorkshire are safe no matter what the result here.

Bad Light. Yorkshire 465-9, 137 overs

Yorkshire lead by 119.

Jordan Thompson 44 and Jack White 0.

There are still 45 overs remaining, but we won’t see all of those.

Hampshire 112-6 chasing 181 to beat Surrey. If Surrey win, Yorkshire are safe.

Hampshire 99-5 chasing 181 to beat Surrey

If Surrey win that, Yorkshire are safe whatever the result here and Durham must draw to stay up.

Yorkshire 465-9, leading by 119.

Jordan Thompson 44 and Jack White 0.

Yorkshire 461-9, 132.3 overs

Matt Milnes caught Matthew Potts bowled Shafiqullah Ghafari, 8.

Pulled a six one ball, caught at slip the next.

Yorkshire’s lead is 115.

Jack White in now alongside Jordan Thompson, who has 40.

We still have the best part of 50 overs remaining in the day, in theory.

Play about to resume after tea

Umpires Steve O’Shaughnessy and Michael Burns have summoned the players onto the field.

Yorkshire 453-8, leading by 107.

Jordan Thompson 39 and Matt Milnes 2.

Hampshire are now 95-4 chasing 181 to beat Surrey at Southampton.

Bad Light. Yorkshire 453-8, 131 overs

The White Rose lead is 107, with Jordan Thompson 39 and Matt Milnes 2.

It’s got to the stage where it would take a remarkable turn of events for Yorkshire to be relegated.

Tea to be taken at 2.35pm.

Yorkshire 443-8, 127 overs

George Hill bowled Shafiqullah Ghafari, 88.

A superb knock is ended as Hill is bowled trying to attack the leg-spinner.

Yorkshire lead by 97 runs.

Jordan Thompson is 31 and has been joined at the crease by Matt Milnes – both playing their final match for Yorkshire before winter moves.

Yorkshire 438-7, 124th over

George Hill 85 and Jordan Thompson 30. These two have shared 81 for the eighth wicket.

You have to say, things are looking very good for Yorkshire now. And not so good for Durham.

If Hampshire – 55-0 chasing 181 – beat Surrey, Durham have to win this game to survive.

Light has closed in again

We’re back in the territory of potential delays.

The floodlights are on.

Yorkshire 396-7, leading by 50.

George Hill 56, Jordan Thompson 19.

Hill 50

George Hill

George Hill reaches a crucial fifty off 105 balls with 7x4s.

He has helped Yorkshire reach 390-7 in the 114th over, with Jordan Thompson 18.

Yorkshire 374-7, 110 overs

Yorkshire have taken six bonus points from this fixture to Durham’s four.

George Hill has 43 and Jordan Thompson 11.

The sun's out now

The players are back out in the middle and set to resume. No overs lost.

Yorkshire 365-7, leading by 19.

All eyes on the Utilita Bowl

Surrey are 281-9 just before lunch at the Utilita Bowl, leading Hampshire by 180.

Matthew Fisher is 22 not out.

If Surrey win that game, Yorkshire are safe no matter what happens in this game.

Durham would also be safe with a draw.

Actually, Surrey are all out for 281. Hampshire need 181 to win.

Lunch will now be taken

Confirmation that we’re having an early lunch.

Bad light. 365-7, 107.4 overs

And there we are.

We’ll probably have an early lunch with this delay.

George Hill 41, Jordan Thompson 4.

Light an issue at present

The light has closed in from nowhere really here at Headingley, and the umpires have chatted a few times in the last 10 minutes. The lights are on.

Don’t be surprised if we get a delay shortly. That wouldn’t be a drama to Yorkshire, of course.

Yorkshire 365-7, leading by 19.

George Hill 41, Jordan Thompson 4.

Yorkshire 357-7, 103.4 overs

Dom Bess caught Daniel Hogg bowled Matthew Potts, 18.

Caught at deep backward square-leg.

Yorkshire’s lead is 11 as Jordan Thompson comes in alongside George Hill, who has 37.

Yorkshire into the lead

Yorkshire 350-6, leading by four.

George Hill 34 and Dom Bess 14.

Yorkshire 331-6, 95.1 overs

Matthew Revis lbw Ben Raine, 38.

Durham make the breakthrough as Revis is trapped in front half pushing forwards.

Yorkshire are 15 behind, with Dom Bess joining George Hill at the crease. He has 30.

Quiet start to the day

Yorkshire have added seven runs in the opening four overs of the day, moving to 321-5.

Matthew Revis has scored all seven of them and has 35.

Durham trying to break through with Matthew Potts and Ben Raine.

Up and running at Headingley

Matthew Potts is bowling to Matthew Revis on 28.

Yorkshire 314-5 in reply to Durham’s 346.

George Hill has 23.

Good morning...

From a sunny Headingley, where we’re all set for a start on time at 10.30am for day three.

Yorkshire will begin on 314-5 in their first-innings reply to 346. The deficit is 32.

The White Rose county will be absolutely delighted with their position in the game, but they still have work to do. A good morning with the bat will go a heck of a long way today.

This year’s members’ player of the year, Matthew Revis, and someone who ran him very close to the same award, George Hill, are at the crease on 28 and 23.

Mayank Agarwal was the star of yesterday with a stunning 175, and you can read his thoughts via our reaction piece from last year. The match report is also available via the embedded X post above.

Enjoy the day.
