Matthew Revis has chipped Tom Lawes to Rahul Chahar at mid-wicket, falling for 40 and ending an impressive stand of 91 with James Wharton, who has 45.

These two have recovered things very, very nicely from 1-3.

Still plenty of work to do for Yorkshire, but things look much brighter than at 1-3.

We are playing under floodlights, making it doubtful that we’ll see all of the 72 overs scheduled in the day. We shall see.

Surrey’s Indian debutant fast bowler Auqib Nabi is coming towards the end of his second over.

A bustling sort of quick, he is one of three Indians playing in this game alongside Rahul Chahar for Surrey and Kuldeep Yadav for Yorkshire.

Away from The Kia Oval, there was success for Yorkshire’s Over 60s team yesterday.

Yorkshire won the County Cup final against Middlesex in Stoke on Trent yesterday having also finished top of their North Division. They went unbeaten through 15 matches in all competitions.

From the Kia Oval, where it’s a dry and bright start to the day ahead of our 11th-round Rothesay County Championship match against Surrey.

First things first, a reminder that we get underway at 10.30am for the remaining days this season.

Yorkshire sit seventh in Division One on 117 points and Surrey eighth on 102.

It’s a huge week for Yorkshire, who still have ambitions of catching Nottinghamshire at the top. They are 31 points clear of the White Rose. For that to happen, you’d imagine Yorkshire will have to win at least three of their remaining four games and draw the other. It might even take four wins. Not impossible.

Both sides head into this week on the back of draws. Yorkshire’s was always going to be against Leicestershire at Scarborough following the weather we had up there, while Surrey were staring down the barrel on day four against Essex at Chelmsford on Sunday before clinging on.

They have named three overseas players in their squad for this game, all Indians. Seamer Auqib Nabi joins Mahipal Lomror and Rahul Chahar. Yorkshire will field their compatriot Kuldeep Yadav for the first of three Championship appearances.

Yorkshire beat Surrey at Headingley back in May. Another performance like that would be most welcome!
