Ben Coad gets Liam Patterson-White caught and bowled off a miscued drive. Nottinghamshire 229-7.

Mitchell Hay is caught behind off George Hill immediately after the resumption following the Bairstow injury. But Jonny is in the action immediately. Notts’ 228-6 in the 86th over.

Jonny Bairstow, stood up to the stumps, has just taken a blow on the hand following a George Hill delivery which leapt from back of a length.

He’s been off the field for similar injuries twice already this season.

There have been plenty of plays and misses and a couple of edges dropping short of the slips.

Notts’ are just starting to get the upper hand. Not overwhelmingly so. But, to have got to this stage without any damage having lost the toss, they will be chuffed.

Quiet start in truth. Both sides will be content.

There is a definite green tinge to the pitch, and Nottinghamshire face an interesting conundrum here.

They desperately need a result, yet they also need batting points.

From a dry and sunny Trent Bridge, where we’re all set for a start on time at 10.30am for this season finale.

Yorkshire are aiming for win number six and their third on the spin, while Nottinghamshire are also aiming for win number six to give them any chance of retaining the title they won last September.

They are sat in third and are trying to bridge a 15-point gap to leaders Warwickshire, with Somerset sandwiched in between. The Bears host Leicestershire, Somerset host Surrey. It’s unlikely to say the least that they will be lifting the trophy come Sunday.

From a Yorkshire perspective, they are ending the season very well and would head into the winter with significant confidence if they can have a good week here.
