“One or two more wickets tonight would have been ideal, but we’ll take four right now. It was tough conditions in terms of toiling for the boys, but we got our rewards for hard work.
“Notts bowled really well in the first session, and then the way Tom (Kohler-Cadmore) batted managed to get us a little bit of momentum.
“Duanne (Olivier) and Ben (Coad) then bowled really well for us first up and set the platform to get a few wickets.
“We’re going to have to work hard tomorrow because the wicket seems to be getting that bit better to bat on. But we are prepared to win the game in the last session of the day if that’s what is needed.”

Kent (5th) v Essex (1st) – Canterbury
Sam Cook took 7 for 32 as Kent were bowled out for just 40 in their second innings, leaving Essex with a target of 153 for their eighth win of the season. Kent had earlier taken a first-innings lead of 112 but were rolled over in just 18.1 overs. Their total was their lowest recorded at Canterbury since they started playing there in 1847.
Surrey (6th) v Hampshire (4th) – Kia Oval
England prospect Ollie Pope and Scott Borthwick – his first for two years – both made centuries on a flat pitch to lift Surrey to 337 for 4, just 40 runs short of Hampshire’s first innings total. Borthwick scored 100 and Pope is 102 not out.
Warwickshire (7th) v Somerset (2nd) – Edgbaston
Somerset conceded a first-innings deficit of 159, and then Warwickshire reached 48 for 3 in their second innings. Earlier Steven Davies made his maiden first-class century and Dom Bess hit 52 to take Somerset past the follow-on mark.
Yorkshire (3rd) v Nottinghamshire (8th) – Scarborough
Notts have been set 387 to win after bowling Yorkshire out for 338 with Luke Fletcher finishing with 5 for 67. Tom Kohler-Cadmore made 59.
Division Two
Derbyshire (7th) v Gloucestershire (3rd) – Derby
Following on 219 behind, Derbyshire have fought back and are 188 for 2. Billy Godleman made 86 and Wayne Madsen is 50 not out.
Durham (5th) v Leicestershire (10th) – Chester le Street
Leicestershire followed on 308 behind after South African Brendan Carse picked up career-best figures of 6 for 63. They are 67 for 0 in their second innings.
Glamorgan (2nd) v Lancashire (1st) – Colwyn Bay
Lancashire have strengthened their position at the top of the table after Glamorgan were bowled out for 138 when they followed on and lost by an innings & 150 runs.
Sussex (8th) v Middlesex (6th) – Hove
Middlesex were finally dismissed for 378, leaving Sussex 145 to win. John Simpson made 89 and James Harris 66 before a last-wicket stand of 79 between Steve Finn and Tim Murtagh. Ollie Robinson’s match figures of 14 for 135 were the best by a Sussex bowler for 55 years.
Northamptonshire (4th) v Worcestershire (9th) – Northampton
Northamptonshire launched themselves into the promotion places with a thumping 10 wicket win over Worcestershire. Northants bowled them out for 223 just after lunch and it left only 34 for victory. Rob Newton and Ben Curran saw off the target in only 4.3 overs to complete a 22-point victory, lifting them above Glamorgan and into the top three.

4.11pm Nottinghamshire’s chase of 387 has advanced to 27-0 in the seventh over of 44 to be bowled tonight. There has hardly been an alarm so far for Messrs Slater and Libby.
Tea Yorkshire are defending a target of 387 against Nottinghamshire at Scarborough.
The White Rose have four sessions in which to claim their fifth in eleven Specsavers County Championship victory of the season.
Yorkshire, with a first-innings lead of 48, advanced from lunch at 240-5 to 338 all out, signalling an early tea with 44 overs remaining in the third day.
The excellent Luke Fletcher claimed four wickets of the five afternoon wickets to fall, finishing with 5-67 from 27 overs.
All of them came with the new ball, which the stalwart seamer took with the score at 246-5 in the 81st over – the second of the afternoon.
He had Jonny Tattersall caught at first slip, Tim Bresnan caught behind and Tom Kohler-Cadmore trapped lbw for 59 as he shouldered arms.
That left the hosts at 302-8 in the 97th over, a lead of 350.
Kohler-Cadmore had earlier reached 50 off 92 balls.
Fletcher’s fifth came when Ben Coad edged him to second slip as Yorkshire fell to 320-9 in the 101st.
Keshav Maharaj (35) hit successive leg-side sixes off Paul Coughlin in the next over before falling caught and bowled next ball as the seamer took a fine high catch running backwards to wrap up the innings.
Fletcher’s eleven-over afternoon spell yielded four wickets for 41.
3.20pm Coad gone! He’s been caught at second slip off Fletcher, who claims his fifth wicket. Yorkshire 320-9 in the 101st, leading by 368.
3.02pm Kohler-Cadmore trapped lbw as he tries to leave Fletcher alone. His well made 59 comes to an end, and Yorkshire are 302-8, leading by 350.

Lunch Yorkshire’s progress towards a day three declaration against Nottinghamshire at Scarborough has been watchful before lunch.
The White Rose, who remain on course for their fifth Specsavers County Championship win of the season, have advanced from 177-2 overnight in their second innings to 240-5, a lead of 288.
They lost night-watchman Steve Patterson, Gary Ballance, the latter for 61, and Harry Brook whilst scoring 63 in 29 overs of play.
Home captain Patterson was caught at second slip driving at Paul Coughlin as Yorkshire slipped to 185-3 in the 58th over, the eighth of the morning.
That was Coughlin’s first first-class wicket for Notts in his third game for them having signed from Durham at the start of last season, only to be beset by injuries.
Luke Wood struck with his first ball of the morning to get Ballance, off a top-edged pull, caught at long-leg by substitute fielder Louis Bhabra, on for Luke Fletcher – 199-4 in the 64th.
Notts then claimed their third wicket of the morning when Brook (18) miscued Liam Patterson-White’s left-arm spin to mid-on as Yorkshire fell to 232-5 in the 75th, a lead of 280.
Tom Kohler-Cadmore and Jonny Tattersall will resume unbeaten after lunch on 26 and nought respectively.

Good morning from Scarborough, where it is a cloudy start to the day.
I have been told there is a chance of showers about today, but we are still expecting a sizeable number of overs on day three of our clash with Nottinghamshire.
Yorkshire have this game by the throat.
They lead by 225 runs at 177-2 in their second innings and are on course for a fifth win in 11 matches.
The only real disappointment yesterday, which saw Notts initially fall from 41-0 to 184 all out in reply to a first-innings 232, was that Adam Lyth missed out on a hundred on his home ground. But his 81 was a valuable contribution, and he is now within touching distance of 10,000 first-class runs for Yorkshire.
Gary Ballance, 52 not out, will resume alongside nightwatchman Steve Patterson this morning.
