Both captains, Tattersall and Procter, are chatting to umpires Adnan and Watts. There’s clearly some concern with the bowlers’ run-ups.

12pm – They’re off for the day at Hove for the second day running. Yorkshire’s path to promotion is becoming smoother.
10.49am – All the covers are off at Headingley, and the sun’s out. Fingers crossed for some good news after lunch.
They have already been called off for the day at Leicester (v Derbyshire) and Durham (v Kent).
10.03am – The scene looks much brighter now at Headingley. The sun’s out, and the covers are coming off.
9.30am – Just a quick look ahead to tomorrow, when New Farnley from the Bradford League will take on Richmondshire from the North Yorkshire South Durham League in the Yorkshire Premier League final at Castleford. Good luck to both.
9.20am – We have just had a really heavy rain shower, and the umpires have said there will be no play before lunch, which will be taken early at 12pm. It is still raining, but nowhere near as heavy as it was five minutes or so ago.
9.06am – Ah, no. It’s raining heavily here at Headingley, almost certainly putting an end to hopes of a start on time.
8.10am – Good morning from Headingley where it’s dry and bright at present.
It’s difficult to know as yet what the prognosis is regarding a start on time at 10.30am. We look ok overhead – the sun’s out, and there’s plenty of blue sky around.
However, it’s clear that the outfield is still pretty wet. The ground-staff are removing the covers at present. Fingers crossed we can get this game underway this morning at the second time of asking following yesterday’s washout.
The day one abandonment was one of a number around the country, with play only possible at four of nine venues.
Somerset and Hampshire, at Taunton, played not a million miles away from a full day up in Division One. Somerset were bowled out for 136, with Hampshire 62-5 in reply.
The one match affecting Yorkshire is taking place at Hove, where Middlesex are facing Sussex. That is one of games yet to start because of rain/wet outfield.
Yesterday morning at Headingley, George Hill was capped by Yorkshire – cap number 192. His development was celebrated in the Hawke Suite, with Jonny Bairstow leading the presentation.

Northamptonshire have four players in their squad for this week who could make their first-class debuts. It’s unlikely all four will play – Arush Buchake, Krish Patel, Aadi Sharma and Fateh Singh. But two of them probably will.
