Yorkshire captain Steve Patterson

“That’s very disappointing. In the first 40 minutes to an hour of the game, we started really well. From there, it was all downhill. We lost last week at Somerset and were outplayed. You can accept that.
“But we came back here to home conditions and felt we had a good chance to win the game. Obviously after that middle session on day one, we were always up against it and never fought our way back.
“It’s a shame. To have two such heavy defeats back to back is really demoralising after some good stuff prior to that.
“That’s as difficult a week as I’ve ever experienced.
“As captain, it makes it even harder to take than as a player because you feel more responsible for everything. You question yourself, ‘Is there anything I could have done differently?’.
“But the bottom line is that other than Duanne’s (Olivier) wickets at the start and Matty Fisher’s performance, I think we were all very, very below what we’re capable of. When you have that many players under par, it’s hard to compete with teams.”

12.47pm That’s it. Yorkshire are all out for 117 as Bell-Drummond gets Tattersall caught at second slip for 41. That’s a victory margin of 433 for Kent. We drop to fifth in the table ahead of next week’s final round clash at Edgbaston.

12.40pm Olivier’s middle stump goes to Bell-Drummond for his Yorkshire best of 24. 116-9.

12.33pm Yorkshire are 113-8, with Tattersall 39 and Olivier 24 – his Yorks best. We are playing an extra 15 minutes before lunch.

11.51am Fisher gone! Brilliantly caught behind by Robinson, one-handed diving to his right, off Podmore, 7. 81-8.

11.07am Yorkshire are 56-7 after 31 overs. Tattersall 13 and Fisher yet to get off the mark.

10.37am Bresnan caught behind by Robinson off Stevens, who has a five-for. Yorkshire 46-7.

10.35am Stevens and Milnes and the men in operation for Kent. Yorkshire are 46-6 in the second over of the day.

Good morning from Emerald Headingley for the final time this season.

The sun is shining and we’re all set for a 10.30am start.

Unless something absolutely astonishing happens, Yorkshire are going to lose for the fourth time this season.

They will resume on 44-6 in pursuit of 551.

Losing six wickets in 22 overs last night has ended any realistic chance of escaping with a draw.

It means they will drop down to fifth in the table below Hampshire in third and Kent in fourth.

Jonny Tattersall and Tim Bresnan are the unbeaten batsmen.
