2.41pm – Play has been abandoned for the day here at Headingley. Ottis Gibson has said the plan tomorrow is to start half an hour or an hour earlier and play an old school red ball 50-over game.
1.20pm – The rain continues to fall at Headingley. It is looking increasingly likely that there will be no play today, however confidence is high for some tomorrow.
11.47am – It has been pointed out to me that Durham’s squad for this fixture has Ben Raine and George Drissell in it. So, weather wise, it was always likely to be soggy wasn’t it!
11am – It is actually raining pretty hard now as the official start time for this fixture arrives. It is a bleak scene, unfortunately.
10.23am – The Northern Diamonds rounded off their short pre-season tour to Desert Springs in Spain yesterday with a comprehensive 40-over win against South East Stars, recovering from two previous defeats. You can read our match report via the link below.
10.11am – Unfortunately, there is no change in the scene at Headingley, where it is still raining. It is by no means heavy, but enough to force a delayed start to this friendly and the players inside into the nets.
9.48am – More news on the fox, who scurried across the outfield, had a wee on the frame of the nets and – having realised there would be no play – exited stage left through the Western Terrace.
9.33am – Leicestershire coach Paul Nixon has sent a scout to Headingley for this fixture ahead of the season opener on April 6.
9.07am – This fixture is behind closed doors, though the gates will open for the weekend three-day friendly against Leeds/Bradford University.
9am – Good morning from Headingley, where we begin our summer campaign with a two-day friendly against Durham.
Unfortunately, as I type, it is currently raining – not hard, but enough for to ensure the covers remain in place. New head of grounds Richard Robinson and his staff were in the early stages of removing them 20 minutes or so ago before about turning.
Matt Milnes looks set to make his Yorkshire debut following his winter rehab from a stress fracture of the back.
Durham are fielding two teams this week, one facing Durham University at the Riverside. Yorkshire’s Yash Vagadia is playing for the students, and another here. Alex Lees captains the side facing Yorkshire, while fellow England internationals Brydon Carse and Matty Potts have travelled.
We are due to get underway at 11am. That is in doubt.
