The Diamonds have lost at the Utilita Bowl. They didn’t get back on, so a DLS defeat.

3.49pm – You have to give Madsen significant credit here. He’s got a nasty injury to his right (we think) hand, but he’s digging deep to help his side recover. From 23-3, they’ve moved to 73-3. He has 26 and has shared 50 with Guest 27.

3.28pm – Diamonds are 94-3 chasing 288 against Vipers. Winfield-Hill 38, Burns 28.

3.22pm – Hill and Thompson into the attack now. Derbyshire 29-3 after 16.

1.11pm – Lunch. Another dominant session for Yorkshire, who are 433-5 after 94 overs. Brook 123 and Tattersall 7.

1.03pm – WICKET! Yorkshire 424-5 in the 92nd as Hill is bowled by Tickner, 9. Tattersall in now.

12.41pm – Fourth batting point secured. 406-3 in the 87th over. Root 119 and Brook 115.

12.36pm – SIX! Root has just reverse scooped Chappell over third, moving to 117. 396-3 in the 86th.

12.33pm – Brook dropped on 106 by Lloyd at mid-on off Reece.  389-3.

12.29pm – We’re playing through rain here at Headingley. Yorkshire 384-3.

12.24pm – Vipers are 169-3 in the 29th over against the Diamonds at Southampton. The Turner Prize? Two wickets for Phoebe Turner and one for Sophia.

12.18pm – HUNDRED! Harry Brook, you superstar. His second century of the season comes off 102 balls with 15x4s and 1x6s. We’ve moved to 373-3 in the 82nd over.

Brook 100 der

12.14pm – Derbyshire have taken the new ball at 364-3 after 80. Reece with it. Brook on 93.

12.11pm – HUNDRED! What a player. Joe Root reaches his century off 163 balls with 9x4s. 360-3.

Root 100 Der

12.07pm – Third batting point secured at 350-3 in the 79th over. Root 95 and Brook 87. They’ve shared 145, and it’s been a masterclass of contrasting styles – Root accumulative, Brook completely dominant.

11.59am – Brook has just lap-swept Thomson to fine-leg for four, and now he has 82. Completely dismissive of the bowler. 342-3 after 76. Root 92.

Diamonds are struggling at Southampton. Vipers are 143-1 in the 25th over.

11.33am – Yorkshire 314-3 in the 69th over, with Root 82 and Brook 65. The partnership is 109.

11.15am – Batting point number two in the bag at 300-3 in the 64th over. Root 76 and Brook 57. They’ve shared 95 so far.

Derbyshire’s Madsen is not on the field after sustaining a hand injury trying to take a catch yesterday. There is significant doubt over whether he will bat.

11.04am – Brook drives Dal down the ground and reaches his fifty off 41 balls with 9x4s and 1×6. Excellent stuff. 286-3 after 61 overs – two this morning.

Brook 50 Der

11am – We’re up and running here at Headingley. Yorkshire 276-3 after 59, Root facing Thomson’s off-spin on 65.

10.13am – The Northern Diamonds have won the toss and will bowl first at Southampton.

9.27am – The sun is out now, and the players are warming up. Looks like an 11am start is on the cards now.

9.02am – The covers are back on here now. If it’s raining, it’s not hard at all.

9am – A fascinating stat from Derbyshire photographer and club historian Dave Griffin. Shan Masood is only the eighth player in the history of the game to score 40 or more in an innings in first-class cricket where every run came from a boundary. His 40 yesterday was made up of 10x4s.

8.32am – Good morning from Headingley, where there has been a bit of rain around this morning. Thankfully, it has disappeared and the sun is out now.

It wasn’t too much, certainly not as hard as yesterday evening.

Fingers crossed, we can get going at 11am. The covers are pretty much all off now. If so, we will have 104 scheduled for the day – across the next two, in fact – as we try to make up some of the 37 overs lost yesterday.

Before that, over in the Long Room, it’s the AGM. That starts at 10am.

Yorkshire will resume on 276-3 from 59 overs, with Joe Root unbeaten on 65 and Harry Brook 44. They have shared an unbroken 71 for the fourth wicket so far.

Members and supporters could be in for a real treat this morning if those two get going again.

Adam Lyth played the key innings yesterday, a superb 97, to continue his fine start to the season. With two hundreds and a fifty included in 334 runs, he is amongst the top five leading run-scorers in Division Two.

Derbyshire will rue a handful of dropped catches. One of those went to Wayne Madsen at first slip before lunch, and he immediately left the field nursing a hand injury. There is a doubt over whether he will be able to bat later today.
