Yorkshire captain Steve Patterson

“It’s frustrating when rain plays a part in the game. With 10 overs to go, only two wickets down, we felt we were in a really strong position. We were looking to get somewhere around 400, which was definitely a winning score out there.

“Then the rain came. 225 off 22 overs, it is what it is. Whether you agree with it or not, that’s the target.

“Still, with the players we’ve got, we should have been capable of defending that score. On this occasion, we weren’t good enough to do it.

“100 percent, it’s a point lost. Absolutely. In the field we were poor and dropped a number of half chances. Our lack of awareness stopped us taking other chances we probably should have done.

“Had we taken some of those, we’d have killed the game very early.

“Also, with the quality of bowlers we’ve got, I think we can bowl better than that. It’s very frustrating to play half the game at such a high level in terms of the batting – it’s some of the best we’ve seen all year – and then to be so below par in the field and with the ball.”

6.58pm Derbyshire need two from one ball.

6.16pm Du Plooy gone! He’s caught at deep mid-wicket off Lyth for 75 off 37. 145-3 in the 15th.

5.54pm Derbyshire pair Billy Godleman and Leus du Plooy, 50 off 24 balls, have thrown this game wide open from nowhere with an unbroken 88 and counting. Derbyshire 98-2 in the 10th.

5.43pm Derbyshire 70-2 in the seventh as Godleman and du Plooy play their shots. The visitors, chasing 225 in 22, are actually ahead on DL.

5.15pm OUT! Lyth gets Reece stumped. It’s 8-1 in the first.

4.43pm Play is due to resume at 5.15pm. Derbyshire target is 225 from 22 overs.

3.17pm We have been told the cut off time for a 10-over match is 6.03pm and Derbyshire’s target would be 120.

3.06pm The picture is still the same at Emerald Headingley, where the rain continues to fall.

Meanwhile, in their match against Leicestershire at Trent Bridge, Notts have amassed 433-7. Sunday could be high-scoring!

Mid innings

Tom Kohler-Cadmore, Adam Lyth, Harry Brook and David Willey all posted half-centuries in Yorkshire’s 308-2 from 40 overs at the halfway stage of their Royal London one-day Cup clash with Derbyshire at Emerald Headingley.

Rain meant Yorkshire’s innings was cut short after they elected to bat, and it would have been some relief to Derbyshire, who were under the cosh.

Openers Kohler-Cadmore and Lyth excelled on a flat pitch, hitting 79 and 78 respectively as they shared 157 inside 24 overs before both fell in the space of three overs to Ravi Rampaul and Matt Critchley.

Third-wicket pair Willey and Brook then really put their foot down as they closed in a Yorkshire’s record total in List A cricket, 411-6 against Devon in 2004.

They shared 141 unbroken inside 14 overs, with Willey 72 and Brook 59 when the rain arrived.

They scored 113 in the eight overs prior to the rain, with Willey hitting three of six sixes in the innings so far.

1.56pm RAIN: The players come off the field with Yorkshire on 308-2 from 40 overs.

1.46pm Now Brook reaches 50 off 36 balls with 6×4s and 1×6s. Yorkshire 288-2 in the 39th

12.52pm Kohler-Cadmore gone! Leg-spinner Critchley gets him caught at extra cover by Madsen for 79. Yorkshire 167-2 in the 27th.

12.40pm Lyth gone! He top edges a pull at Rampaul, with long-leg taking a fine catch running in from the rope (Conners), 78. 157-1 in the 24th over.

12.27pm We have reached the 20-over mark and Yorkshire are 140-0.

12.07pm Lyth has reached a 39-ball fifty, including five fours and a couple of sixes. Yorkshire 100-0 after 15 overs.

The Vikings have won one, tied one and lost one of their three matches so far and have David Willey available for the last time in the competition. Adil Rashid is unavailable.

Derby have won two and lost one so far and are chasing their first List A victory over Yorkshire since 2012 and their first away since 2011.

Just a quick note elsewhere, Notts last night announced that Sunday’s game against Yorkshire at Trent Bridge is now sold out (Family Fun Day).
