Great to hear, but let’s hope he’s not too friendly to county batters, hey!
9.10am – Good morning from Hove, where the sun is out. It’s a gorgeous South Coast morning. A good day for a win, you might say!
Fingers crossed, that’s how it plays out today. Yorkshire are just about ahead. Sussex are 194-7 in their second innings, leading by 149 on an improving batting pitch. If we can wrap up the three wickets quickly this morning, then a first win of 2024 is very much on the cards.
Sussex believe they are very much in the hunt as well. Paul Farbrace, their head coach, was talking up his side’s chances if they secured a 180 lead.
Yorkshire bowled pretty well yesterday and chipped away at the wickets, though it wasn’t a flawless performance by any stretch. They let a few chances slip, be it dropped catches or a wicket off a no ball. They can’t afford to be generous today, otherwise things may get sticky.
If you want to recap yesterday’s action, you can do so via our Match Report and reaction piece with Ben Coad, who came off late on yesterday with a stiff back and will be assessed this morning ahead of any involvement with the ball today.
It’s a big day in Yorkshire Cricket circles, with England women playing Pakistan at Headingley in the third IT20, and the Diamonds playing Thunder at Emirates Old Trafford in the first Charlotte Edwards Cup match of the season. Both start at 1pm.
