“We’ve had a few tight finishes, and we were starting to think that luck wasn’t on our side. But to come away with a win, it was a bit of a rollercoaster, but brilliant to get the two points.

“It was going to be a tough chase. It was a big total (352). But that was one of the best batting pitches we’ve played on this year with a fast outfield. We felt it was a very gettable total.

“We probably didn’t bowl at our best and fielded very poorly. We gave them a few too many runs.

“But at one stage in their innings, we were looking at chasing 400. So the fact we held our nerve, came back and took a few wickets, it restricted them and gave us a chance.

“With Tom and Brooky’s partnership, we were ahead when we came off for rain and in a good position. Then we go back out, and it’s a rollercoaster.

“But the lads held their nerve. Those three sixes from Gary really changed the momentum, and the way Jonny Tatts went in and finished it in that last over was wonderful.

“We knew we had to win all three coming into this. We have one of them out of the way.

“Confidence breeds confidence. The two points always make you feel better, especially after a couple of tight ones and a poor game at Nottingham. It gives us plenty of confidence going to Worcester on Saturday.”

8.53pm Yorkshire have won by five wickets on DLS with two balls remaining. Two wins from six games, six points. They’re still alive but need to win their last two. Jonny Tattersall hit the winning runs.

8.45pm Ballance gone! Caught at short third-man off Keogh having hit him for three sixes. 14 off eight balls needed.

8.39pm What a catch. That’s right up there from Holland running back off his own bowling to get Kohler-Cadmore for 67. 143-3 with 13 balls left. Target 175.

8.30pm Brook gone! He’s been caught at deep cover off the first ball back. 128-2 after 21. 47 in four overs needed.

8.28pm Restart delayed and Yorkshire need 47 in 4.1 overs.

8.01pm We will be restarting at 8.20pm at Wantage Road. Yorkshire’s target is 186 in 26 overs. That’s another 58 in 5.1 overs.

6.26pm Kohler-Cadmore reaches his fifty off 65 balls with 5×4s and 1×6s, pulled off Procter to get him to the milestone. 111-1 in the 19th.

5.27pm Adam Lyth has been caught at short fine-leg off Sanderson, 16. Yorkshire 19-1 in the fourth over.

Mid-innings

Ricardo Vasconcelos hit a maiden List A century as Northamptonshire racked up 351 in today’s Royal London one-day Cup clash at Wantage Road, a must win game for Yorkshire.

The diminutive South African opener hit 112 off 97 balls and set the platform for his side’s 350 plus total, although Yorkshire did fight back impressively late on to limit the damage.

Should they achieve this, it will be Yorkshire’s record chase.

Vasconcelos, the left-hander, shared 118 inside 19 overs with compatriot Richard Levi (58) and 116 in 16 for the second wicket with Josh Cobb, who also made 58.

Yorkshire bowled too many boundary balls and were thus unable to apply pressure on a good pitch until late in the innings.

Josh Poysden with 2-56 from 10 overs and was the pick of the bowlers, while Mat Pillans helped restrict the damage with two wickets in the 46th over and his third in the 50th. He finished with 3-65 from 9.3.

There is no reason why Yorkshire can’t chase this down, but they have to to maintain their qualification hopes – a top three finish in the North Group.

They would then have to beat Worcestershire and Durham on Saturday and Monday.

West Indies captain Jason Holder chipped in with 36 and Adam Rossington 45 not out.

4.12pm Wakely gone! He’s been caught at deep mid-wicket by Leaning off Pillans. 307-5 in the 46th.

4pm Matthew Waite traps Jason Holder lbw for 36. A big wicket considering the West Indies captain’s power. Northants 288-4 in the 43rd.

3.31pm Cobb drags Poysden to Leaning at deep mid-wicket, 58. Northants 238-3 in the 37th.

2.48pm Life for Cobb on 27 as he’s dropped by Olivier running in from long-leg off Pillans. Northants now 162-1 in the 27th over.

2.15pm Poysden has bowled a couple of beauties to Vasconcelos, but the left-hander has survived to reach his fifty off 49 balls with 7×4s and 1×6s – the latter just now off Patterson. And the breakthrough comes courtesy of Patterson getting Levi caught at deep cover by Brook for 58. 118-1 in the 19th.

2pm Levi reaches a 51-ball fifty and gets a life when a Patterson delivery shaves the stump on the way through to Tattersall, with the bail remaining in tact. 100-0 up in the 15th over.

Mat Pillans does well to get out of the way!

1.42pm Northants 64-0 after 10 overs. Levi has 25 and Vasconcelos 35. Patterson replacing Waite in a double change.

1.37pm Northants have had the better of the early stages of this game, played out on what looks to be a run filled pitch. They have advanced to 57-0 after nine overs. Pillans replacing Olivier.

12.34pm Northants have won the toss and will bat first.

Northamptonshire: Levi, Vasconcelos, Cobb, Wakely c, Keogh, Holder, Rossington w, Procter, Holland, Buck, Sanderson.

Yorkshire: Lyth, Kohler-Cadmore, Brook, Leaning, Ballance, Tattersall w, Waite, Pillans, Patterson c, Olivier, Poysden.

12.20pm Around the grounds, and the other two games have already started. There’s not great news for Yorkshire in the other North Group game, where we could do with runaway leaders Notts beating Worcestershire at New Road. But they’re 68-6.

Middlesex are 135-0 in the 23rd over against Somerset at Radlett in the South.

Good morning from Wantage Road, where it is a lovely day. It is far from blazing sunshine, more hazy, but it is warm and we’re all set for today’s Royal London one-day Cup clash with Northamptonshire.

Yorkshire are at the point of no return in the North Group.

If they lose today, they are out of contention for the top three places and knockout cricket. However, if they win the three remaining games, today, at Worcester on Saturday and then at home to Durham on Monday, there is a decent chance of progression.

Northants are all but out of contention already. Like Yorkshire, they have only won once in five games, but they have lost the other four, whereas the Vikings have accrued two ties.

Will Fraine is in the squad for the first time following his winter move from Notts.

We start at 1pm, and this game is being televised by Sky.
