Gary Ballance
“I don’t know if I’m doing anything different, but I’ve started the season as well as any I can remember.
“Getting a score in our first game and getting the confidence from playing on a nice pitch down in Hampshire was massive, and I’ve managed to build on that.
“It’s always good to score runs, but to do it when it’s helping to put the team in a good position in matches is especially pleasing.
“We started the day well by winning the first hour, which we knew would be very important, and fortunately me and Jack [Leaning] put together a decent partnership after that.
“Jack really got stuck in and batted really well. It was an important knock for us.
“We knew we had to win that first session, and that then put us into a really good position in the match. The heavy roller took the sting out of the pitch and helped us get through the first hour.
“I think we saw in the four overs Duanne bowled tonight that he’s a quality international bowler. He’s showed what he can do in this game, and we’ll be leaning on him tomorrow and over the next few months for sure.
“He’s a really nice bloke, chilled and relaxed off the field, but once he’s out in the middle he surely means business. He likes to bowl quick and likes the odd bumper, as Kent have found out.”
Coad gone! He’s miscued Podmore to point for a career best 35.
YorkshireCCC</a> 469 all out and have set a target of 384. Eight overs to bowl tonight <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/OneRose?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#OneRose</a></p>— Yorkshire CCC (

Close Kent are in bother at 34-3 chasing 384. Ballance with 159, Leaning 69, Coad with 35 and two wickets the stars.
6.19pm Renshaw gone! What a delivery from Coad. Two stumps out of the ground – middle and off. It’s 30-3 in the penultimate over of the day
6.07pm Yorkshire on the charge. Coad traps Crawley lbw. It’s 19-2.
5.54pm Dickson caught at short-leg off Olivier. Ducked his first ball which didn’t get up and was hit on the arm. Next ball, he’s caught at short-leg. 3-1.
Bess gone! He’s pulled Podmore to mid-on to fall for 34.
YorkshireCCC</a> 460-9, a lead of 374. <a href="https://twitter.com/BenCoad10?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">

5.04pm Patterson bowled – two in the over for Claydon. 416-8.
5pm Bresnan has been bowled by Claydon for 23 as Yorkshire fall to 416-7, a lead of 330. We are inside the final 20 overs of the day. I would guess Yorkshire would want 10 overs of bowling tonight if it ends up being their decision and they’re not bowled out. Bess 26 and Patterson yet to get off the mark.
Tattersall gone! He’s been caught behind off Milnes for 19.

Lunch Gary Ballance reached his fourth hundred in as many Specsavers County Championship matches dating back to the end of last season this morning as Yorkshire push for victory over Kent at Canterbury.
The White Rose are in control, despite conceding a first-innings lead of 86.
They have advanced their second innings from 166-3 at the start of day three to 261-3 from 78 overs at lunch, a lead of 175. Ballance has reached 103 not out.
Ballance and Jack Leaning, unbeaten on 40, have batted through the morning without alarm on a pitch which has got better for batting, taking their fourth-wicket partnership to 122.
Whilst pitch conditions have eased from day one, it is likely that Yorkshire more potent attack will still pose problems for Kent’s batsmen later today and tomorrow as they chase a second win in three matches.
Ballance reached his ton off 196 balls with 18 fours to follow Championship hundreds against Worcestershire last September and then Nottinghamshire and Hampshire last month.
12.57pm HUNDRED! Ballance reaches his latest ton off 196 balls with 18×4s. Fabulous. He has 102 out of 261-3.
12.40pm Yorkshire continue to excel on day three. Ballance and Leaning, who have 93 and 35 respectively, have just brought up their century partnership for the fourth wicket. The visitors, at 240-3, lead by 154.
Good news for Will Fraine
2ND XI UPDATE: Yorkshire have declared on 295-2 with Will Fraine 157no. Worcestershire, trailing by 378, are 7-1 with Warner striking in his first over. #OneRose

Good morning from Canterbury. It’s another lovely morning.
Yorkshire enjoyed an exceptional final two sessions of day two to put themselves in healthy shape at 166-3 in their second innings, leading by 80.
The pitch seems to have slowed up a bit and the bounce got lower, but Ben Coad was saying last night that’s there still enough in it for the bowlers.
Gary Ballance will begin the day on 57 with Jack Leaning for company on 11.
We start at 11am. Enjoy the day.
