12.34pm – A short and sharp blog today, but the Yorkshire players have just arrived at the ground now to do training in the gym and the indoor nets. From chatting to Adam Lyth, it seems like it was pretty obvious what was coming today when the squad turned up at the ground yesterday. Keep an eye out for a chat with Lythy later this afternoon.
10.44am – Following the umpires’ inspection earlier on, there is a flock of seagulls conducting their own inspection of the surface. “Might do a bit – bowl first deck for sure,” I think I can see one mouth to another!
9.54am – Play has been abandoned for the day here at Bristol.
9.37am – We spoke to the returning Matthew Fisher and coach Ottis Gibson to preview this fixture. Visit the link below to read what they had to say.
9.35am – Let’s have a look at the fixtures taking place around the grounds this week.
DIV TWO
Durham v Worcestershire, Seat Unique Riverside, Chester-le-Street
Leicestershire v Derbyshire, Uptonsteel County Ground, Grace Road
DIV ONE
Essex v Lancashire, The Cloud County Ground, Chelmsford
Northamptonshire v Middlesex, Wantage Road
Nottinghamshire v Somerset, Trent Bridge
Surrey v Hampshire, The Kia Oval
Warwickshire v Kent, Edgbaston
9.28am – Here’s a look at the pitch for this week and the work currently being done.
9.25am – Good morning from the Seat Unique Stadium in Bristol, where we have been met with glorious sunshine but not a lot of optimism that we’ll start on time unfortunately. The wet weather over the last fortnight has caused the ground staff a pretty sizeable headache.
Players and coaches are milling about on the outfield, with no signs of warm-ups starting.
On the actual cut strip, there is a heat lamp in operation at the far end from the Pavilion and a member of the ground staff with what I’d best describe as an industrial hairdryer. The umpires are having a wander out to the middle now, followed by Ottis Gibson.
If and when play does get underway, there will be a live stream and you can view the scorecard via the Match Centre tab at the top of the page.
