The Yorkshire County Cricket Club is delighted to announce the overseas signing of Jordan Buckingham.

The 24-year-old Australian fast bowler will be available for four Rothesay County Championship games between 29th April-29th May.

Since coming to prominence in 2022, Buckingham has gone onto become a pillar of the South Australian attack in Sheffield Shield cricket and has represented Australia A, most notably taking 6-58 on debut against New Zealand.

Buckingham is known for his pace and control and has been labelled as having a resemblance to former Yorkshire and South Australia coach, Jason Gillespie.

Having already had a stint with current Yorkshire batting coach John Sadler at Northamptonshire in 2023, Buckingham is looking forward to returning to England.

He said, “There is no bigger county than Yorkshire so I’m incredibly excited to get started in April. There are some key fixtures in that period and I’m looking forward to helping the guys out.

“The squad has taken shape nicely and looks strong. I know I can add a little extra something to the bowling line up when I get over to the UK.”

Head Coach Anthony McGrath said: “It’s great to have Jordan sign for us for this period of the season. With four really key fixtures before we hit the white ball games, I know he will impact our squad in a really positive manner.”

Gavin Hamilton, General Manager of Cricket added; “Jordan is highly rated by South Australia, both as a player and a person, and will provide us with more depth in the bowling department.

“Everyone at Yorkshire CCC is delighted Jordan has signed and we’re looking forward to welcoming him to Headingley in April.”
