Batting on the first day, the White Rose openers got the season underway with a tremendous 170-run partnership, with Tom Kohler-Cadmore scoring 70 and Adam Lyth going on to retire at tea unbeaten on 108. Will Fraine and Harry Brook spent some useful time at the crease, scoring 28 and 31 respectively, before all-rounders Matthew Waite (43*) and Matthew Fisher (25*) closed the day with Yorkshire 337 for 5.
