The Yorkshire County Cricket Club is delighted to announce that Erin Thomas has signed a two-year contract extension, with the opening batter committing her future to the county until at least the end of 2028.
Thomas, 19, was part of the team which won the Metro Bank One-Day Cup 2 title last September, hitting a superb 62 not out in the final win over Glamorgan at New Road.
That represented a career best score for the Drax CC product, who will hope to reach 1,000 senior career runs during the first half of this summer.
Thomas represented England at the Under 19s T20 World Cup in Malaysia last January.
She is an attacking batter, with both power and flair in her game.
Thomas has been part of the Yorkshire pathway since the age of 12 and made her senior debut for the county in 2023. She is also a former Yorkshire Cricket College student.
Of that aforementioned One-Day Cup final innings against Glamorgan, she shared 127 for the first wicket with captain Lauren Winfield-Hill to underpin a successful chase of 128 in a rain-reduced 20-over clash.
“To play for Yorkshire has been a dream of mine, and I absolutely loved it last season,” she said.
“To sign an extension here is brilliant news for me and my family. It’s a proud moment.
“We gained a lot of confidence from what we did last year, both winning the One-Day Cup and reaching the final of the Vitality Blast and we believe we can have another good summer.”
Yorkshire’s general manager of cricket Gavin Hamilton said: “Developing homegrown talent is one of our main priorities, and Erin is very much in that bracket.
“She’s been with the county for the best part of a decade, and she has continued to progress in the way we have expected in order for her to be an excellent Tier One player.
“We were all very proud of her when she represented England at the World Cup, as we were when she scored those runs in the final.
“There is plenty more to come from Erin, and we’re thrilled she will be showing that wearing the white rose.”
