SCORECARD

Claudie Cooper was Yorkshire’s standout performer in today’s Roses friendly defeat with Lancashire at Moorlands CC, claiming an excellent 4-34 from 10 overs.

Lancashire, having elected to bat, posted 284-9 from their 50 overs, centred around a middle order 60 from all-rounder Fi Morris.

Morris was one of off-spinner Cooper’s victims, alongside opener Tilly Kesteven, visiting captain Ellie Threlkeld and Scotland international Ailsa Lister. Today, Cooper’s contract extension through until the end of 2027 was announced by the club.

Seamers Jess Woolston and Grace Hall struck twice apiece added to a wicket for Yorkshire’s Scotland international seamer Hannah Rainey, who has been signed from the Red Rose.

In reply, Yorkshire posted 248-18 from their 50 overs as batters were rotated around. Most batted twice, with Sterre Kalis and Erin Thomas top-scoring with 39 apiece first time around. Kalis returned to add another 24 in her second knock.

Seamer Kate Cross struck four times, as did off-spinner Darcey Carter.

Both sides are warming up for Saturday’s Metro Bank One-Day Cup opener. Yorkshire travel to Taunton to face Somerset, while champions Lancashire begin their title defence up at Durham.
