I didn’t see the first day of the Roses game, but when I turned up following a difficult day, it was clear the lads were full of belief that they could fight back.
There was a real air of calmness around the group, no panicking given Lancashire’s position of strength at 100 for none replying to 210 or because of the magnitude of the game.
It was never a case of ‘This is the biggest game of our season, this is the biggest day’. It was more ‘Let’s just concentrate on each ball, each hour, each session’.
If you think like that, rather than an outcome, you have a great chance of gradually getting back into the game.
