The final day of Yorkshire’s three-day friendly against Leeds/Bradford MCC Universities, at Headingley today, was abandoned without a ball bowled because of a wet outfield.

Heavy overnight rain forced umpires Steve O’Shaughnessy and Naeem Ashraf to make their decision at 9.15am.

Only 46.3 overs of play were possible throughout the match, all after lunch on day one, with Yorkshire reaching 294-5. George Hill top-scored with 82 not out and Fin Bean added 62.

Day two was also called off because of a wet outfield.

Yorkshire now face a two-day friendly against county rivals Durham here on Sunday and Monday, starting at 11am, though that fixture is being played behind closed doors.

That is the final friendly prior to the Vitality County Championship Division Two opener against Leicestershire at Headingley, starting a week tomorrow.
