The Yorkshire County Cricket Club (YCCC) is delighted to announce the signing of exciting off-spinner Claudie Cooper on a two-year contract to play for Yorkshire Women in the new domestic structure.

On a domestic front Cooper, 22, came through the Surrey age-group system and has played senior county cricket for them since 2019.

Cooper has played senior regional cricket for the South East Stars, debuting for them last year, and the right-armer has also been in and around the Oval Invincibles squad in the Hundred, alongside Yorkshire legend Lauren Winfield-Hill.

Earlier this summer, Guildford-born Cooper claimed a career best of 4-5 whilst opening the bowling for Surrey in a County T20 Cup win over Suffolk.

On signing her maiden professional contract Cooper, said: “It feels absolutely amazing to have signed for Yorkshire Women.

“Yorkshire is one of the biggest clubs in cricket and I’ve heard so many amazing things about how they’re growing women’s cricket.

“I know how much the Club wants to win and grow, and that’s a really good fit for me.

“I want to keep developing my game and play my part. With my bowling I can be used in all three phases of the game. If the captain gives me the ball, I know I’ll be able to do exactly what they want me to do.

“We’ve got a great group in the squad – I can’t wait to meet up with everyone and I’m looking forward to taking my game to the next level.”

Richard Pyrah, Yorkshire Women’s Head Coach, said: “Claudie is a young bowler who has a lot of potential, and this is another exciting signing for us.

“Lauren noticed Claudie from their time in the Hundred together, down at the Oval. She’s seen Claudie bowling in the nets and has been impressed.

“Spin bowling is a huge part of the women’s game, and it’s our job to support Claudie in her development and we believe she has a bright future at the Club.”

Everyone at Yorkshire Cricket would like to welcome Claudie to the Club and wish her the very best of luck with Yorkshire Women.
