Joe Root is hoping to go out with a bang later this week, as the England star ends a near half-season spell in county cricket with a pair of crunch Vitality Blast fixtures.

Abi Glen and Jess Woolston warmed up for the resumption of 50-over cricket with the Northern Diamonds by sharing five wickets across a pair of county T20 fixtures for Yorkshire yesterday.

Yorkshire County Cricket Club has retrospectively awarded caps to women players who have represented their county to recognise their commitment and their importance to the Club – spanning nearly 90 years of history.  

Yorkshire lost their second successive Vitality Blast match, failing to chase 167 against Leicestershire. The Vikings bowled the Foxes out for 166 in 19.5 overs, with Jafer Chohan, Dan Moriarty and Matthew Revis all claiming two wickets apiece. Unfortunately, they then slipped to a 20-run loss, finishing on 146-9.
