Tim Bresnan says Yorkshire’s main aim in 2019 should be limited overs silverware.

The former England all-rounder has echoed Andrew Gale’s recent comments regarding the White Rose’s Championship development, insisting they are at least two years away from a genuine title challenge.

However, Bresnan is confident the county’s talented crop of younger players are ready to chase white ball glory, including a maiden Vitality Blast crown.

“Last season was up and down,” said the 33-year-old.

“We put in some unbelievable performances and then struggled at times. But that’s going to happen. And I think it will happen a bit more next year, especially with the young side that we’ve got.

“The transitional period that has been spoken about, I think it’s very important we manage expectation next year and even into the year after.

“If we can manage to string some performances together, there’s no reason why we can’t exceed our own expectations.
