5:20pm

Close of play. Yorkshire finished the 90 overs having lost just six wickets. Adam Lyth’s brilliant hundred lead the way for the White Rose, but the opener was not the only one that looked in fine form. Gary Ballance looked at his destructive best on the way to 92, whilst Jack Leaning finished the day unbeaten on 58. Yorkshire scored 331 runs in the day and will be happy with proceedings so far. Nottinghamshire will bat tomorrow as the Yorkshire seamers look to get more overs under their belts.

4:55pm

Jack Leaning and Matthew Waite have been building a partnership, scoring steadily over the last half an hour. Given the challenge of facing the new ball, the pair have played some fine strokes. Yorkshire are now 318 for 6 with 5 overs left in the day.

4:20pm

A couple of wickets have fallen here at Senwes Park, leaving Yorkshire 289 for 6. Jonny Tattersall and Tim Bresnan are the men to go, but Jack Leaning remains at the crease on 35 not out.

3:40pm

Yorkshire are now 266 for 4 with Jack Leaning at the crease on 26 not out, alongside Jonny Tattersall, 3 not out. Tom Kohler-Cadmore is the only wicket to fall since tea, bowled by a good delivery from Jake Ball.

3:00pm

Tea! Another good session for the White Rose, with Tom Kohler-Cadmore at the crease on 29, alongside Jack Leaning on 21. Yorkshire are 257 for 3.

2:10pm

Gary Ballance has just fallen for a fine 92. The left-hander has been in a belligerent mood playing some exquisite strokes. Adam Lyth, now retired-out, earlier made a magnificent hundred, starting the season in style. Yorkshire are now 213 for 3 (One of them retired) after 49 overs with Tom Kohler-Cadmore and Jack Leaning at the crease.

1:10pm

Adam Lyth and Gary Ballance have been very aggressive since lunch, taking advantage of any loose bowling on offer. The pair have raced to 76* and 78* respectively with an array of boundaries around the ground. In Jake Libby’s last over, the off-spinner saw the ball disappear for two maximums of the bat of Ballance. Not to play second fiddle, Lyth has played two delightful pull-strokes for four off the bowling of Mark Footit in the next over. Correction, make that four boundaries in the over, with a second two cut and driven through backward point.

Look who’s here…

Duanne Olivier met the squad yesterday and has taken part in his first training session in Potchefstroom this morning. It’s fair to say he looked sharp straight away, working up some good pace, and he’s sure to form a big part of our attack this season.

12:10pm

Lunch. Adam Lyth and Gary Ballance saw the White Rose through to lunch just one wicket down, with 126 on the board. They have both batted with great patience, putting away the bad balls. As lunch approached, they started to dominate the bowling and will be hoping for more of the same this afternoon. Lyth is unbeaten on 65 with Ballance on 51.

11:50am

Adam Lyth and Gary Ballance have batted beautifully so far this morning. The Whitby-born opener has just past the 50-mark with an exquisite cover drive. Not to be bettered, Ballance hooked a quick Jake Ball bouncer in the next over, dispatching it into one of the grand-stands here at Senwes Park. Yorkshire are 104 for 1 (Lyth 52*, Ballance 44*).

11:15am

Yorkshire have moved on to 60 for 1 after 16 overs with Adam Lyth on 36 not out alongside Gary Ballance, 24 not out. The pair have worked hard against some challenging bowling.

10:19am

Wicket! Harry Brook is caught in the slips off the bowling of left-armer Mark Footit. The delivery appeared to rise sharply, catching Brook’s edge as the right hander tried to leave it. The new man to the crease is Gary Ballance.

10:00am

Yorkshire’s openers Adam Lyth and Harry Brook made their way out to the middle. They were to face up against Nottinghamshire’s new ball pair of Jake Ball and Mark Footit.

9:30am

Good morning from a bright Potchefstroom where Yorkshire will take on Nottinghamshire in a two-day game starting today.

The White Rose will bat for the first day, with roles reversed on the second day. Yorkshire’s batsmen have been working hard in the nets throughout the winter, and this has continued into the pre-season tour. The majority of the top order took up the option to train yesterday morning, and will be hoping to make a good start against the red ball today.
